How to Manage Orders with In Progress Status | Liv
Liv Help Center · Order Management

How to manage orders using “In Progress” status

Prepare labels before carrier pickup, keep the order out of the Shipped state, and dispatch it only when the package is actually handed over.

Recommended order flowLiv workflow
01
NewThe order enters your workspace.
02
In ProgressThe label is prepared, but no shipment update is sent.
03
ShippedDispatch sends tracking and updates the store.

When should you use “In Progress” status?

Use this status when you want to prepare a shipping label before the carrier actually collects the package.

For example, your carrier may collect parcels on Monday, while your team prepares and labels orders on Friday. Marking the order as Shipped on Friday would be too early. Instead, Liv can keep the order in In Progress after the label is generated.

!
What “In Progress” means

The package is being prepared. A label may exist, but the order has not yet been dispatched and the connected store should not be told that it has shipped.

Friday

Prepare packages

Create labels and move selected orders into In Progress.

Weekend

Hold safely

Orders remain prepared without sending premature shipment updates.

Monday

Dispatch

Hand packages to the carrier, then send tracking and mark them Shipped.

How to enable or disable “In Progress” status

1

Open Shipping Settings

From the Liv navigation, open Settings and select the Shipping section.

2

Find Order Status Options

Scroll to the order-status settings and locate the option for the In Progress tab.

3

Enable or disable the tab

Select the checkbox to display In Progress in the order workspace. Clear the checkbox to hide it.

4

Confirm the order menu

Return to Orders and verify that In Progress appears beside your other order-status tabs.

How to use “In Progress” when preparing an order

1

Select the order

Open the Orders workspace, select the order you want to prepare, and choose Ship Order.

2

Choose the shipping method

Select the carrier or shipping service that will be used for the package.

3

Enter package details

Confirm package weight, dimensions, delivery service, and any other required shipment information.

4

Prepare the shipping label

Generate the label using Prepare Shipping Label. The order moves from New to In Progress.

No shipment update is sent yet

At this stage the label is prepared and the order appears in the In Progress tab. The customer-facing store should remain unchanged until you dispatch the package.

Dispatch the order after carrier pickup

When the carrier receives the package, open the order in the In Progress tab and choose Dispatch. Liv can then complete the final shipment workflow:

1
Send tracking information

The connected store receives the shipment tracking details.

2
Update the store status

The order is changed to Shipped in Liv and in the connected store, where supported.

3
Complete customer notification

The store can notify the customer according to its normal shipment-notification settings.

i
Important for connected marketplaces

Only use the Dispatch action when the parcel has actually been handed to the carrier. This helps keep shipment dates and tracking events accurate.

Common questions

Does generating a label automatically mark the order as Shipped?

No. In this workflow, generating the label moves the order into In Progress. Dispatch is the action that completes the shipment update.

Can I disable the In Progress tab?

Yes. Return to Shipping Settings and clear the In Progress status option.

When is tracking sent to the connected store?

Tracking is sent when the order is dispatched, not when the label is first prepared.

Can I prepare several orders before pickup?

The workflow is designed to support preparing multiple orders and holding them in In Progress until the carrier collects them.
